This one’s a favorite of mine. Mrs. Chriswell has moved in with her son and daughter-in-law after her husband’s death. She pretends to bird watch to get out of the house. While on one of those pretend bird-watching missions, she meets some strange young men in the woods. But Mrs. Chriswell is unflappable and she does something rather amazing. Lovely story, even lovelier when you consider when it was published. If I don’t reprint this one in Women of Futures Past, I’ll use it in something else.
