Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley—Again

I love learning something new. In Pamela Sargent’s introduction to More Women of Wonder, she discusses the history of the field. She, of course, mentions Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as one of the first (if not the first) major sf novel. Then Pam mentions The Last Man, a Mary Shelley novel which might very well be the first post-apocalyptic novel. I’d never heard of it. And now I’m off to investigate. Thanks, Pam!

What do they teach us kids in those damned schools nowadays? I never even heard of the novel. Hell, I never even heard Shelley wrote more fiction than FRANKENSTEIN.

    Thanks for the tip.
